Google Nest Thermostat
The thermostat that controls the climate in the house is located in the living room, at the entry to the guest bedroom hallway.
Nest thermostats don’t have a touch screen. Use it just like a normal thermostat, turn the ring up when you want it a little warmer, and turn it down when you want it a little cooler.

The climate in the bonus room is controlled with the wall mounted Samsung heating and cooling unit. See REMOTES section for operating instructions.

- Press in gently on the igniter knob and turn counterclockwise. You will hear the igniter click and the fire should start coming out.
- Turn on the rest of the knobs as needed.

Outdoor Mini Fridge
There is an outdoor mini fridge located at the barbecue area in the back yard. You may use the fridge during your stay, and we ask that you do not load it up with too many items. Since it is outdoors it may take a bit longer to cool items that are not already chilled.
If you do choose to use the mini fridge during your stay, please remember to remove all items and wipe down any spills.
Umbrellas
Please ensure that any patio umbrellas are not opened when not in use. Winds often kick up and may result in umbrellas being caught by the wind and damaging windows, vehicles, or injury to guests. Damage done due to this will be deducted accordingly.
Local Noise Ordinance
We ask for your courtesy and kindness in keeping noise to a respectful minimum, especially during the evening hours.
When enjoying the outdoors, please be respectful of our neighbors who live here full time at homes very close to this home. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Please honor the city’s noise ordinance that prohibits unreasonable noise levels outside at ANY time. The City of Palm Springs noise ordinance is vigorously enforced every day of the week, DAY OR NIGHT. Outdoor music has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy as part of the Palm Springs City Noise Ordinance. This includes music being played indoors that can be heard outdoors by neighboring homes.
Any disturbance resulting in a call from a neighbor or Police will result in a minimum $500 fine up to and including forfeiture (eviction) with no refund.
Important Note
Palm Springs Police Department directly fines vacationing guests for all noise violations.

Fire Pits
Fire Pit Operation
To operate the fire pit use the following instructions.
- Locate the gas key and lighter.
- Gas key is in wicker bowl in the kitchen.
- A lighter is in a plastic bin in the lower hall cabinet exiting the kitchen.
- Place the gas key into the keyhole at the fire pit and turn counterclockwise.
- Wait a few seconds for the gas to start flowing. The gas is quiet so you may or may not hear the sound of it coming through.
- Use the lighter to carefully ignite the center of the rocks.
To turn off the fire pit, turn the key clockwise to shut off gas. Place the key back in the wicker bowl in the kitchen and the lighter back in the bin.
Important Note
If you smell gas turn the key to the off position. Wait until the smell of gas leaves the area before trying again.
Do not throw items into the fire. You are in the desert so any flying embers may cause damage to the nearby area/start a fire.
Important Fire Pit Guidelines
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT USE THE DECORATIVE FIRE PIT NEAR THE WOOD PATIO AND POOL AREA. THIS HAS FAKE FIREWOOD AND IS NOT A CONTROLLED FLAME. SO, USE OF THIS FIRE PIT IS FORBIDDEN AS THE EMBERS MAY FLY OFF AND START A FIRE.
Outdoor Lighting
General Outdoor Lighting Information
The lighting outdoors is on an automatic timer.
Please do not unplug the cords as this might disconnect them from our automated programming system.
If you need to turn the lights off or on for any reason, please follow the instructions below.
String Lighting
The string lights are attached to an iHome Smart Plug. The outlet is located on the outdoor bar area on the side nearest the house.
There is a button located on the side of the Smart Outlet that will allow you to turn the power on or off.
Ground Lighting
The outdoor ground lighting is all connected to one outlet on the back of the house. The outlet is located near the entrance of the first bedroom near the bar/spa area. You’ll see it hanging on the wall with one of the three plugs being used.
There is a button located on the top of the Smart Outlet that will allow you to turn the power on or off.
Pool/Spa
Pool/Spa Safety
We want your vacation to be enjoyable and safe. Please take a moment to review these important pool safety guidelines that are also included in your rental agreement.
Pools are a great luxury and can be serious safety risks and hazards if not used with proper care and caution. As a vacation rental guest at our home, you, your guests, and your invitees have agreed to assume the risk and liability for the use of the pool and spa.
You are aware of and assume the risk for yourself, your party, and for any guests or invitees during your stay. You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless from any liability the owner from any harm or injury cause by using the pool and/or spa and equipment or the property.
You swim and use the pool at your own risk. Please make sure swimmers are accompanied at all times, particularly children.
Absolutely NO GLASS is permitted in and around the pool/spa area. If glass is broken in or around the pool/spa you will be responsible for the cost of draining and proper removal of shattered glass. Please use caution and care in and around the pool for your safety.
Important Note
All guests and invitees swim at their own risk. There is no lifeguard on duty. Children are not allowed to swim at ANY TIME without competent adult supervision.
No Diving. No running. No glassware in or around the pool area. Damage or loss of the pool remote will be a $750-dollar charge to replace and program the remote. So please be careful with it.
Pool and Spa Heating Information
Please note that pool and spa heating are available for an additional fee:
• Pool Heating: $50 per day
• Spa Heating: $25 per day
Heating requires 24 hours’ advance notice to allow the system enough time to reach the desired temperature, as it can take up to a full day to heat the entire pool.
Heating services are available October through March. Please contact us in advance to ensure the pool and spa are properly heated for your stay!
Spa Operation
To start warming the spa, follow these instructions.
- Locate the remote panel on the Wooden Gate. Press the SPA button and wait 30 seconds. You will see the light in the middle start to pulse red.
- After giving the system time to start the heater and change the filter to SPA mode, you can press the JETS button on the remote. This will activate the jets, yet this is an optional setting and does not need to be on for the spa to heat.
- The SPA will start to heat and you should be up to full temperate within 45 minutes. If the heat is not working, please message us in the Airbnb app and we can find a solution together.
To turn the spa system off press the buttons again but in reverse order. You’ll want to click the JETS button first and let the system turn the jets off. Once they are off you can then hit the SPA button again and the light should go off and the fountains in the pool should start back up.
Turning off the SPA is extremely important when you have selected to have the pool and the spa heated for your stay. The system only has one heater so it can only heat the SPA OR the POOL at one time. If you do not turn off the SPA when you are done, then the POOL will not stay at the desired temperature.
REMEMBER TO TURN OFF ALL SPA FUNCTIONS AT THE END OF USE.
FAILURE TO DO SO CAN LEAD TO HEATER MALFUNCTION FOR THE REST OF THE STAY
(Note: There is a 20-minute system cooldown period before you can restart the system. If you turn off the spa system by accident, you will need to wait 20 minutes before the system will let you turn it back on.)
Important Note
Consuming Alcoholic beverages and/or drugs and use of the spa can be dangerous and cause serious health conditions. Use common sense and avoid immersion in the spa for prolonged periods of time.
Pool/Spa Lighting
Pool and Spa lighting are controlled by this remote on the wooden gate.
Press the LIGHTS button to turn the lights on/off.
